Fern Monette Stimson Puckett, age 85, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and wife of the late Bro. Melvin Puckett, departed this life Friday evening, November 24, 2023 at her home.
Fern was born December 12, 1937 in Refugio, Texas, the daughter of the late Rupert Paul Stimson and Jessie Lee Stokes Stimson. She graduated from Refugio High School and was married August 22, 1953 to Bro. Melvin Puckett who preceded her in death on January 11, 2008. Mrs. Puckett was of the Baptist faith and served in the mission field with her husband for ten years in Tok, Alaska. She was most recently a resident of Somerville and Oakland and was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Somerville where she was in the Sanctuary Choir, Senior Adult Choir, Bell Choir and Community Bible Study. Fern loved her church and special times with her family.
Mrs. Puckett is survived by two daughters, Dianna Campbell (Rick) and Lisa Davies (Robert); three sons, James Puckett (Debi), Kevin Puckett (Beverly) and John Puckett (Linda); nine grandchildren, Matthew, Crystal, Dallas, Shannon, Eli, Evan, Nathan, Jacob and Jessie; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Shirley Ziegler, Jean Ray and Joan Bockelman.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Puckett were held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at First Baptist Church of Somerville with Bro. Stan Smith, pastor of the church, officiating. A private interment was in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jim Puckett, Matthew Puckett, Bob Davies, Nathan Davies, Jacob Davies and Mike Robinson.
