Gayle Gordon
1924—2011
Gayle Williams Gordon, resident of the Grand Valley Lakes Community near Saulsbury, TN and retired Registered Nurse for Memphis Methodist Hospitals Systems died Wednesday evening, January 5, 2011 at her residence. She was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Gorden were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, January 15
th
at the Grand Junction, TN United Methodist Church with Dr. Virginia Jones Finzel, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the National Veterans Cemetery at Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Gordon was born August 28, 1924 in Waxahachie, TX, the daughter of the late Arthur K. Williams and Rose Reeves Williams. After completing her high school education she graduated from the Memphis School of Nursing and served as a Registered Nurse for over forty years before her retirement. Mrs. Gordon was a former resident of Memphis before moving to the Grand Valley area twenty years ago. She was a member of the Grand Junction United Methodist Church and was a family oriented person who enjoyed nature.
Survivors of Mrs. Gordon include her three daughters:
Sheryl L. James of Bristow, VA, Crystal Shaw and Lisa Smith, both of the Grand Valley Lakes Community; three sons: Arthur Lee Gordon of Thailand, Roger Neal Gordon of San Diego, CA, Keith Gordon of Bartlett; her sisters: Earline Gonzalez of Olive Branch, MS, Lanella Stathos of San Diego, CA; her brother, Hudson Reeves of Denton, TX; fourteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
