Forrest Edward Blades, a native of Indiana, United States Veteran and husband of Norma Ault Blades, departed this life Saturday afternoon, May 24, 2014 at the Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was 89 years of age and died following an illness of two years.
Services and Interment for Mr. Blades were private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Blades was born November 28, 1924 in Flat Rock, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Blades and Julia Muck Blades. He received his education in the Indiana Public School System and continued his college education also in Indiana. He served in the United States Army as a young person and was married June 20, 1948 to the former Norma Ault, who survives.
Mr. Blades was a longtime employee of American Telephone & Telegraph and served as a company manager for over 35 years before his retirement. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and enjoyed watching sports programs.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, Mr. Blades is survived by his daughter, Lisa Howell (Jim) of Memphis; three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
