FRANCES MAMIE PATTAT BOOTH

June 30, 1920 — May 18, 2008

FRANCES MAMIE PATTAT BOOTH, longtime resident of the Oakland Community and native Fayette Countian, died Sunday, May 18, 2008 at the Memphis Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center where she had resided for ten months. She was 87 years of age and died following an extended illness.


Funeral services for Mrs. Booth were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, May 23rd at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Carl Meyer, Pastor of the Oakland First Baptist Church, officiating.  He was assisted by Rev. Edwin "Bubba" Long of Cana Chapel in Memphis. Interment followed in the Hebron Cemetery in the Hebron/Bethlehem Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-Main Chapel of Somerville.


Mrs. Booth was born June 30, 1920 in the Bethlehem Community the daughter of the late Amos Pattat and the late Florence Steward Pattat. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School system and was a resident of the Oakland Community for much of her life. In earlier years she was employed by the Somerville Manufacturing Company and the Pace Corporation. Her love for the outdoors and serving her community prompted her to serve as caretaker for the Oakland Cemetery for a number of years before her retirement.


A devoted member of the Oakland First Baptist Church for many years, Mrs. Booth participated in numerous church activities and was awarded a loyalty and devoted membership plaque for her years of dedicated service to her community and church.


Mrs. Pattat will be remembered as a person who enjoyed fishing, nature, gardening and out of door activities. Her life was centered on her family, church, community and friends.


Survivors of Mrs. Booth include three daughters: Donia Crum of Memphis; Vinie Flora of Indianapolis, IN and Nancy Long of Oakland; three sons: David Booth of Memphis; Amos Booth of Swansboro, NC and Samuel Booth of Oakland; her sister Adaline Yelvington of Mason; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren and two great-great-granchildren.


Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jim Oare, Ralph Murphy, Michael Mullins, Michael Osburn, Joey Booth, Jon Osburn and Chris Crum.


Honorary pallbearers were Carl Doyle, Rudy Doyle, Dave Harris, David McDowell and Mac McElrovey.
