Frances "Nell" Lanelle (Arledge) Oliver

Frances Lanelle “Nell” Arledge Oliver, resident of the Oakland Community, former resident of Memphis and wife of the late William Kyle “Bill” Oliver of Fayette County departed this life Tuesday afternoon, April 16, 2013 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett where she had been a patient for eight days. She was 81 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Oliver were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, April 19th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Kent Bailey of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Oliver was born July 28, 1931 in Plain Dealing, Louisiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank Arledge and Lena R. Dennis Arledge. She received her education in the Louisiana Public School System and was married a graduate of the Plain Dealing High School. She was the wife of the late William Kyle “Bill” Oliver, a supervisor for 34 years at the John Deere Company in Memphis before his retirement. Mr. Oliver preceded his wife in death on November 27, 2006.

Mrs. Oliver was a resident of Memphis for much of her married life and recently moved to Oakland to reside with her son. She took much pride in being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. In earlier years, she enjoyed working in retail establishments during holiday periods and her greatest joy was providing a comfortable home for her family. She will be remembered for her quiet mannerisms and her love for family and home.

Mrs. Oliver is survived by her son, Donald K. “Don” Oliver of Oakland; and two grandsons, Jason Oliver of Munford and Jesse Oliver of Memphis. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Christopher Oliver, who died 34 years ago.
