Frank Carnell Abby, Jr., resident of the Whiteville Community and husband of April Abby, departed this life Friday morning, May 9, 2014 at his residence. He was 53 years of age and died unexpectedly following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Abby were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, May 13th at the Midway Baptist Church at Whiteville with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the West Union Cemetery at Millington. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Abby was born November 10, 1960 in Millington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank C. Abby and Martha M. Gentry Abby. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and was married April 26, 1985 to the former April Waddell, an employee in earlier years of the Kroger Company in Oakland, who survives.
Mr. Abby will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was a farmer and also operated his business under the name of Wildlife Nuisance Control for 13 years before his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the Midway Baptist Church and had been a resident of the Whiteville Community since 2001. He enjoyed building and was blessed with the ability to do many things with his hands. Being with his grandchildren and family was an important part of his life.
In addition to his wife of 29 years, Mr. Abby is survived by his daughter, Vanessa Abby of Memphis; two sons, Charles D. Abby of Memphis, Frank C. Abby, II of Whiteville; two sisters, Debra Thomas of Atoka, Donna Looney of Brighton; and four grandchildren, Hailey M. Abby, Sarah M. Abby, Leah R. Abby and Jackson G. Battle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Diane Williams.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Charles Abby, Frank Abby, II, Joey Evans, Monroe Allen, James Waddell, Richard Riales, Elwin Thronberry and Billy Hughes.
