Frank Holmes Boswell, lifelong resident of the Somerville Community and a person involved in the business, agricultural, religious and community activities of Fayette County for many years departed this life in the comfort of his home on Thursday evening, May 16, 2013. He was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services Honoring the Life of Mr. Boswell were conducted at 4 P.M. Sunday, May 19th at the Somerville First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Michael Krech and Dr. Thomas Pickering, former pastors of the church, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Boswell was born March 25, 1927 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Cannon Boswell, Sr. and Aline Holmes Boswell. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System, was a graduate of the Fayette County High School and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War period and was married September 16, 1951 to the former Virginia Pulliam of Fayette County, who survives.
Mr. Boswell had been involved in agriculture and farm supplies for many years. He was a retired owner of the Somerville Farm Supply, Inc. that continues to be operated by his family. In 2005, Mr. Boswell was the recipient of the Everett Carrell Impact of Agriculture Award for Fayette County. He was a lifelong member of the Somerville First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder and participated in numerous church activities throughout his life.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Mr. Boswell is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Walker (Mark) of Gallatin, TN; his son, David Boswell (Deronda) of Somerville; his brother, Carter Boswell of Somerville; and three grandchildren, Sarah Walker, Caroline Walker and Caleb Boswell.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Charlie Springer, Gary McCaskill, Mark Doyle, Donnie Hughes, Wesley Parks, Jr., Jimmy Marphey and Richard McQueen.
Honorary casketbearers were Payson Matthews, David Fowler, Alex Moore, Thomas Howell Fowler, Billy Barnes, Mike Jaeger and Joe Rimstidt.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Somerville First Presbyterian Church, 12940 S. Main Street, Somerville, TN 38068.
