Franklin Jackson
1948-2010
FRANKLIN EUGENE JACKSON, resident of the Whiteville Community and retired farmer and musician departed this life Saturday, May 8, 2010 at the Bolivar General Hospital. He was 61 years of age and died following an extended illness.
A Service of Remembrance for Mr. Jackson was conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, May 16, at the Gates Baptist Church in Gates, Tennessee with Rev. Gerald Dawson, Pastor of the Church officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Jackson was born August 18, 1948 in Brownsville, TN. He was of the Baptist faith and was a longtime resident of Lauderdale, Haywood, Hardeman and Fayette Counties. He was a farmer throughout much of his life and had a lifelong love of music. He was a drummer for area bands for a number of years before his illness and enjoyed fishing.
Mr. Jackson is survived by his daughter: Shelby Jackson of Halls, TN; two step-daughters: Melissa of Caruthersville, MO and Patsy of Ripley, TN; his three sisters Doris Goforth (Robert), of Whiteville, TN, who also served as his caretaker, Kattie Jackson of Whiteville, TN, Judy Borders of Kentucky, and; four grandchildren.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ray Jackson, who died in 2008.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donors choice.
