William Franklin Tapp, age 84, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Peggy Irene Leath Tapp, departed this life Wednesday morning, November 15, 2017 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Tapp were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, November 17, 2017 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Mike Pilcher, pastor of Munford First United Methodist Church, officiating. He was assisted by Garner Chaffin. Interment followed in the Hebron Cemetery near Stanton, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Tapp was born October 1, 1933 in Somerville, Tennessee. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and served his country in the United States Navy as a young person. He was married May 26, 1956 to the former Peggy Irene Leath and he was a member of Oak Grove Methodist Church in Somerville. Mr. Tapp was a lifelong farmer that loved what he did and looked forward to farming every day. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his family and friends.
Mr. Tapp is survived by his wife of 61 years, Peggy Irene Leath Tapp of Somerville, TN; three sons, Raymond Tapp (Patrice) of Somerville, TN, Michael Tapp (Calente) of Somerville, TN, Bryant Tapp (Penny) of Somerville, TN; two sisters, Olivia Hathaway (Carmen) of Bartlett, TN, Lucille Tapp Pattat (Harold) of Somerville, TN; his brother, Robert Holt “Bobby” Tapp (Magdaline) of Somerville, TN; and five grandchildren, Andrea Tapp, Alana Tapp, Brinley Tapp, Judson Tapp and Braylon Franklin Tapp.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Nimrod Tapp and Zera Holt Tapp; three sisters, Mabel Pattat, Elizabeth Scott, Virginia Morris; three brothers, Fred Wilson Tapp, Richard Thomas Tapp, Joseph Howell Tapp; and his granddaughter, Chesley Irene Tapp.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Greg Tapp, Andrew Tapp, Thomas Tapp, Garner Chaffin, Steve Tenhundfeld and Kyeson Gonzalez. Honorary pallbearers were Wesley Harvell, Tom Tapp, Doug McNabb, Sammy Rhea, Johnnie Pattat and J.G. Walker.
The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in memory of Chesley Irene Tapp, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
