Franklin Roosevelt "Frank" Walker, Sr., age 80, resident of Eads and husband of Gloria Smith Walker, departed this life Sunday morning, February 21, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Walker were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Jeremy Arnold of Henderson officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Walker was born August 17, 1935 in Olive Branch, Mississippi. He was a graduate of Germantown High School and served his country in the United States Army Reserves as a young person. He was married to the former Gloria Smith and was a member of the First Baptist Church Hickory Withe. He was employed as a truck operator for many years before his retirement. Mr. Walker was a member of the Somerville Moose Lodge and enjoyed horses, woodworking, camping, gardening, working search-and-find puzzles and chewing tobacco. He had a special love for the Boy Scouts and was a volunteer at the West Fayette Fire Department.
Mr. Walker is survived by his wife, Gloria Smith Walker of Eads; three sons, William Walker (Suzanne) of Eads, George Walker (Nellie) of Eads, Franklin Walker, II of Eads; and two grandchildren, Jeffery Lavann Walker (Faith) of Oakland and Bradley Forrest Walker of Piperton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vanna Walker and Christena Hilbigs Walker and his brother, John David Walker.
Pallbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
