Fred Greene

John Fred Greene, age 75, resident of Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi and husband of Jane Bishop Greene, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 1, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Greene will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Carey Chapel Baptist Church near Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi with Bro. Barry Littlefield, pastor of the church, officiating. Visitation will begin at 12:30 P.M. Friday, March 4, 2016 at the church. Interment will follow in the Carey Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Greene was born September 9, 1940 in Bruce, Mississippi. He received his education at the William R. Moore School of Electrical Engineering in Memphis and was married October of 1974 to the former Jane Bishop. He was employed as an elevator mechanic before his retirement. Mr. Greene was a member of the Carey Chapel Baptist Church and was a fan of Mississippi State sports. He enjoyed restoring old homes and building furniture.

Mr. Greene is survived by his wife of 41 years, Jane Bishop Greene of Mt. Pleasant, Mississippi; two daughters, Beth Greene Baker of Rome, Georgia, Aimee Greene Davis (Felder) of Birmingham, Alabama; his sister, Norma Hamilton of Lakeland, Tennessee; his brother, Bill Greene (Loretta) of Evansville, Indiana; and six grandchildren, Sydney Raines Davis, Wilson Davis, Eliza Davis, Hudson Davis, Sarah Baker and Hannah Baker.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Felder Davis, Clay Smith, Steve Graves, Monte Moore, Eric Anderson and Tom Sowell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Greene, Larry Anderson, Ed Wallace and Forrest Wilson.
