Frederick Hall “Wild Man” Vinson, 85, resident of Hickory Withe, Tennessee, died May 14, 2020, at his residence.

Fred was born August 14, 1934 near Mercer, Tennessee, the eighth of nine children born to the late Clayborn L. Vinson and Effie Irene Cardwell Vinson. He attended Whiteville High School and served his country in the United States Army as a parachute rigger in the 101st Airborne Division, the 82nd Airborne Division and the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team.

He worked for Walmart for many years, where he was known as “Mr. Fred.”

He is survived by a sister, Dorothy Vinson White, of Hernando, MS, and a brother, James Freeman Vinson, of Bartlett, TN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Malcolm Patterson Vinson, William Francis Vinson and Alvin Clark Vinson, as well as three sisters, Nina Vinson Toth, Ina Vinson Summers and Katherine Vinson South.

Interment was in the West Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on Forest Hill-Irene Road in Memphis.
