Gary Eugene Gallimore, age 86, resident of Eads, Tennessee and husband of Betty M. Gallimore, departed this life Thursday evening, November 7, 2024 at his home.

Gary was born November 7, 1938 in Sharon, Tennessee, the son of the late Noyel Prentice Gallimore and Flora Agnes Scearce Gallimore. He graduated from Sharon High School in 1956 and completed his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Tennessee at Martin. He continued his education to receive his Master’s Degree at the University of Memphis and was employed as a science teacher at Memphis City Schools for 33 years before his retirement. He had a love for kids and also drove the school bus for many years after his retirement in 1998.

Gary was married June 6, 1964 to Betty Jane McCollum Gallimore and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova. He loved cars and antique tractors. He was a member of the Memphis Classic Chevy Club, Somerville Old Car Club and Corvette Club of Memphis.

Mr. Gallimore is survived by his wife, Betty M. Gallimore of Eads, TN; two sons, Michael Gallimore (Tracy) of Southaven, MS and Mark Gallimore (Andrea) of Eads, TN; his brother, Russell N. Gallimore (Carroll) of Jackson, TN; and five grandchildren, Robert, Sarah, Megan, Nicholas and Jordan.

A visitation for Mr. Gallimore will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Funeral Services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Sam McElroy from Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, officiating. Remarks will be given by Russell Gallimore, Luke McGarrh and David Chappell. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Robert Gallimore, Nicholas Gallimore, Joe Dyer, Glenn Gallimore, Kevin Gallimore and Gabriel Garduque.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
