Gary Ronald Sanders resident of the Oakland Community and husband of Barbara “Bobo” Sanders died Sunday afternoon, February 20, 2011 at his residence. He was 54 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Sanders were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, February 24
th
at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Randy Smith of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Millington, officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
A Michigan native, Mr. Sanders was born December 13, 1956. He moved at an early age with his family to Alabama and received his education in the Huntsville Alabama Public School System. Mr. Sanders was married November 1, 1980 to the former Barbara “Bobo” Williams a native of Memphis and employee of Memphis Consumer Credit, who survives.
Mr. Sanders was engaged in cabinet making for much of his life and was employed as a Cabinet Maker for the Memphis Plywood Company for a number of years before his recent illness. He was a Christian and was a resident of Bartlett before moving to Fayette County 14 years ago. Mr. Sanders interests included camping, outdoor activities and barbecuing. He enjoyed recreational vehicle trips, riding on his 4-wheeler and a spirited game of horse shoes with family or friends.
In addition to his wife of 31 years, Mr. Sanders is survived by his sister-in-law: Lynne McCuddy (Eddie) of Arlington; his mother and father-in-law: Francis and Inge Williams of Oakland; two nephews and a niece.
