George Luther Caldwell

November 8, 1937 — February 20, 2008

GEORGE L. CALDWELL, longtime resident of the Bethlehem - Hebron Community in Fayette County and United States Veteran, died at 7:15 A.M. Wednesday, February 20, 2008, at his residence on Hebron Drive. He was 70 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Caldwell were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, February 22nd at the Graveside with Rev. Loyd Shelton of Rossville, officiating. Interment followed in the Hebron Cemetery in the Bethlehem Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Caldwell was born November 8, 1937, in Fayette County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Leroy Caldwell and Sylvia Katherine McNabb Caldwell. Mr. Caldwell was educated in the Fayette County public school system and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville. As a young person, Mr. Caldwell served in the United States Air Force. Mr. Caldwell was married May 14, 1972, to Mary Elizabeth Grimes Caldwell who preceded him in death on April 29, 2001.
Mr. Caldwell enjoyed electronics and the repairing of televisions and radios throughout his life. He was employed by the Exxon Convenience Store in the Bethlehem Community on Interstate 40 before his retirement.
Mr. Caldwell is survived by his daughter, Tammy Georgette Caldwell of Memphis; his sister, Patricia Cepetelli of Fort McCoy, Florida; his brother, Wayne Caldwell of Somerville; his half brother, Clarence Taylor, Sr. of Somerville and his friend and caregiver, Morton Carraway of the Bethlehem Community.
