George Christian Maeder, resident of the Arlington Community and retired employee of FedEx died Sunday evening, August 1, 2010 at his residence.  He was 64 years of age and died following an extended illness.
A Service of Remembrance for Mr. Maeder was conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, August 5 th at the Bellevue Woods Activity Center in Cordova with Rev. Skip Parvin of the Bellevue Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Mr. Maeder was born October 10, 1945. He was educated in the Pennsylvania School System and had been a resident of the Arlington Community for the past 10 years. He was married on April 22, 1977 to the former Barbara Joyce Stockdale, who survives.
Mr. Maeder was a member of the Bellevue Baptist Church and served as an aircraft router for FedEx for 13 years before retiring 2 years ago for health reasons. Mr. Maeder will be remembered for his love of all sports that included golf, bowling, basketball, softball and coaching softball. He and his daughter enjoyed working together on automobiles.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Maeder is survived by two daughters: Katie Maeder of Grapevine, TX and MaryJo Maeder of Arlington, TN and three grandchildren, Destinie Maeder-Baldwin and Christian James Maeder-Baldwin both of Grapevine, TX and Vanessa Oluwakemi Maeder-Olaiya of Arlington, TN.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Diabetes Association.
