George Mitchell Rodgers

George Mitchell Rodgers, age 80, resident of Williston and husband of Rosa Nava Rodgers, departed this life Thursday afternoon, October 27, 2016 at his residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Rodgers were conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, October 31, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of the First Baptist Church Hickory Withe, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Rodgers was born June 1, 1936 in Henry County, Kentucky. He received his education in the Henry County Public School System and served his country in the United States Air Force as a young person. He was employed as a superintendent in the construction industry for many years before his retirement. Mr. Rodgers was married March 7, 2000 to the former Rosa Nava and he enjoyed outdoor activities that included fishing, gardening and shooting his guns. He will be remembered as a people-person who loved his cats.

Mr. Rodgers is survived by his wife of 16 years, Rosa Nava Rodgers of Williston; two daughters, Tracey Hazelwood (Rodney) of Tampa, FL, Karry Michelle Creek of Memphis, TN; his son, Steven Michael Rodgers (Kathleen) of Bartlett, TN; his stepdaughter, Nataly Aguilar of Phoenix, AZ; his stepson, Luis Aguilar of Cordova, TN; two brothers, James Michael Rodgers (Shirley) of Blodgett, MO, Steve Rodgers (PJ) of Litchfield, IL; and five grandchildren, Evan Rodgers, Jacob Rodgers, Zachary Rodgers, Sarah Hazelwood and Brandon Hazelwood.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Selbert Rodgers and Macie Lenora Costigan Rodgers; his sister, Cordelia Abshire; and two brothers, Selbert Davis Rodgers and Fred Rodgers.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Evan Rodgers, Jacob Rodgers, Zachary Rodgers, Brandon Coffey and Luis Aguilar. Honorary pallbearers were Brian Coffey and Mark Shrock.
