George Bert Young

George Bert Young, age 79, resident of Somerville and husband of the late Linda Faye Hoskins Young, departed this life Thursday morning, December 4, 2014 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Young was conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, December 11th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. John Ed Watkins, pastor of Mercy Bridge Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Young was born July 15, 1935 in Somerville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Young and Virginia Rich Young. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was the husband of Linda Faye Hoskins Young, who preceded him in death on July 5, 2014. Mr. Young was of the Christian faith and was a resident of the Somerville Community for much of his life. He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for the National HealthCare Center in Somerville for a number of years before his retirement. He enjoyed woodworking and working with leather.

Mr. Young is survived by his son, Dale Young of Heth, Arkansas.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Ronald Young and his brother, Marion Young.
