Gerald Julian Pulliam, resident of Somerville, departed this life Friday, October 25, 2013 at Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville. He was 61 years of age and died following a valiant battle with complications related to cancer.
Services of Remembrance at the Graveside for Mr. Pulliam were conducted Monday, October 28th with Dr. Ken Story, minister of the Somerville First Baptist Church officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Born November 15, 1951, to Lorene Oliver Pulliam and the late Thomas Julian Pulliam of Somerville, Mr. Pulliam was a graduate of Fayette County High School. He attended the University of Tennessee at Martin, where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and he attended the University of Memphis. He was a commercial contractor and active member of his community.
Mr. Pulliam was a Rotarian and member of the First Presbyterian Church of Somerville. Mr. Pulliam loved spending time with family and friends on his boat at Pickwick Lake. He was a generous contributor to children’s charities and, as long as health permitted, rode his Seadoo in the Tennessee River Run Charity.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Pulliam is survived by a sister, Judy Ashby (Stephen) of Memphis; two daughters, Ashley Turner (Will) of Collierville, Lindsey Ring (Robert) of Homewood, AL; and grandchildren, Kathryn Ring and Thomas Turner. A special thank you to his physician and friend, Dr. Jeff Gibson, for his devoted care.
