Geraldine "Dean" Morgan McVay

Geraldine “Dean” Morgan McVay, age 76, resident of Moscow and wife of the late Travis “Jack” Morgan, Sr., departed this life Monday evening, December 19, 2016 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. McVay were conducted at 11 A.M. Thursday, December 22, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Matthew Watkins, student minister at the Somerville First Baptist Church, officiating. Special music was provided by Tiffany Watkins. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. McVay was born October 31, 1940 in Tupelo, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Zadock McVay and Anna Moore McVay. She received her education in the Lee County, Mississippi School System and was a lifelong resident of North Mississippi and the Moscow, Tennessee areas. Mrs. McVay was married April 3, 1964 to Travis “Jack” Morgan, Sr. and she was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of the Memphis Baptist Temple and she enjoyed shopping and special times with her grandchildren.

Mrs. McVay is survived by her daughter, Shelia Young (Michael) of Hernando, MS; two sons, Travis Morgan, Jr. (Kathy) of Williston, TN, Steve Chatham (Sharon) of Huntsville, AL; three sisters, Opal Moore of North Carolina, Sue Kirt of Mississippi, Jonelle McVay of Texas; her brother, Bill McVay of Moore, OK; nine grandchildren including her grandson and special caregiver, Chris Hunt of Moscow, TN; a very special niece, Pat McBride of Williston, TN. fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Sherman Adair, Michael Young, Todd Tegethoff, Cory Carlson, Buck Sides, Terry Jones, Rusty McClure and Kenneth Byard. Honorary pallbearers included Chris Hunt and Levi Adair.
