Gilda Morello Carbone

May 7, 1913 — December 6, 2007

GILDA MORELLO CARBONE, a resident of the Hickory Withe Community and wife of the late John Carbone, died at 4 P.M. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at her residence on Cherry Road. She was 94 years of age and died following an extended illness.


Funeral services for Mrs. Carbone were conducted at 1 P.M. Monday, December 10th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel on Highway 64 at Oakland with Deacon Bill Davis of St. Philip The Apostle Catholic Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. A Rosary Service was held Sunday, December 9th. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Home-West Chapel.


Mrs. Carbone was born May 7, 1913, in Genoa, Italy. She was educated in the parochial schools at Genoa and was married for over 60 years to John Carbone who died in 1986. Mr. Carbone operated a moving and storage business in New York City before his retirement. Mrs. Carbone was a United States Citizen and had been a resident of the United States for all of her married life.


She was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Lady of Pompeii Catholic Church in New York City and was a resident of Parsippany, NJ before moving to the Hickory Withe Community. Mrs. Carbone was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who received much pleasure in preparing genuine Italian foods for her family.


Survivors of Mrs. Carbone include her son, Dr. Raymond Carbone and wife Dolores of Hickory Withe; three granddaughters: Denise Caulfield of Hackensack, NJ, Dr. Laura Carbone of Arlington, TN and Dr. Pamela Carbone of Bontyn Beach, FL and three great-grandchildren: David Caulfield, Nicole Caulfield and Christina Caulfield.
