Gladys "Vernalee" (Wofford) Steward

Gladys “Vernalee” Wofford Steward, age 81, resident of Moscow, Tennessee and wife of the late Keith Steward, departed this life Monday afternoon, November 28, 2022 at her home.

Vernalee was born February 17, 1941 in Peach Orchard, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Donald Eugene Wofford and Vada Allean Wofford. She was employed as a teacher, insurance agent and missionary in Korea. Vernalee was married December 23, 1969 to Keith Charles Steward who preceded her in death on January 9, 2019. Mrs. Steward attended Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow and had a tremendous love for her family and friends. She will be remembered for her love and commitment to Jesus, her Lord and Savior, and her extension of love to others.

Mrs. Steward is survived by two daughters, Summer Scheri and Mia Clay (Kory); two sisters, Monnie Edgar and Jacque Millette; two brothers, Gary Wofford and Dale Wofford; seven grandchildren, Raylee Scheri, Joseph Scheri, Kasen Clay, Madisen Clay, Madden Clay, Kyten Clay and Mayzen Clay; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jesse Edward Wofford and Dwight Eugene Wofford and her infant grandson, Koen Clay.

Funeral Services for Mrs. Steward were held at 4 P.M. Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Oak Grove Baptist Church with Bro. David Parlow, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment was at 2:30 P.M. Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Logan Ferge, Ethan Ferge, Jack Ferge, Eddie Wofford and Danny Wofford. Honorary pallbearers will include Todd Wofford.
