Gloria (Stewart) Ellard

February 26, 1937 — May 3, 2015

Gloria Stewart Ellard, age 78, beloved mother and patriot, passed away on Sunday morning, May 3, 2015 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis. She departed peacefully with friends and family at her side.

Mrs. Ellard was born February 26, 1937 in Memphis and was the daughter of the late Harriet Doxey Stewart.  She is survived by four sons, Reed Ellard of Somerville, TN, Stuart Ellard of Memphis, TN, Murphree (Lorraine) Ellard of Germantown, TN and Winfield (Shannon) Ellard of Germantown, TN; her brother, Al Stewart of North Hills, CA; and five grandchildren, Megan, Sarah, Annalise, Aiden and Lorelei.

Mrs. Ellard spent the majority of her life living in Memphis where she raised her children and made many lasting friendships. She was steadfast in her love for America and was a founding member of Campaign for Liberty (West Tennessee), an organization that advocates for America’s founding principles. She was a Christian of the Lutheran faith and was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Ellard will be held on May 16 at 1:00 P.M. at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland, 10670 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, Tennessee 38068. Immediately following the service, there will be a reception for family and friends to celebrate the life of Gloria Ellard. Details will be provided at the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Campaign for Liberty, 1581 Bubbling Brook Drive, Germantown, TN 38138 or the Church Health Center, 1196 Peabody Avenue, Memphis, TN 38104.
