GLORIA NELL SHUBERT HARROLD, a resident of the Somerville Community, former Healthcare Employee and wife of Lee Harrold died at 12:30 P.M. Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for two weeks. She was 58 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Harrold were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, June 3rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. John Ed Watkins, Pastor of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Harrold was born May 14, 1951 in Fayette County. She was preceded in death by her parents John Shubert and Catherine Marie Yancey Shubert.
She was a lifelong resident of the Somerville area and in earlier years was employed by the Collierville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church and her interests included reading and sewing with a special fondness for embroidery and cross-stitching.
She was married August 31, 1985 to Lee F. Harrold, a School Bus Driver for the Fayette County School System who survives.
She had a lifelong love for animals and her four canine companions brought her much love and enjoyment.
Her family including her seven grandchildren was an important part of her life.
In addition to her husband of twenty-three years, Mrs. Harrold is survived by two daughters, Tammy Dowdy (Tim) of Somerville and Mary Johnson of Gallaway; her son, Julius Ray Bryant, Jr. of Clifton, TN; her sister, Linda Byrum of Whiteville and seven grandchildren: Ashley Bryant, Magon Dowdy, Richard Bryant, Kaitlyn Johnson, Mallory Wyatt, Julian Bryant and Isaac Johnson.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were David Berretta, Tim Byrum, Chris Harrold, Johnny McCrackin and Lon Byrum.
David Yancey and D. L. Spencer served as honorary casket bearers.
