Gloria Jean Nelson Raburn, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of Roger Raburn, departed this life Thursday morning, January 28, 2016 at the Methodist North Hospital in Memphis.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Raburn will be conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Bob Curtis officiating. Interment will be private. A visitation for Mrs. Raburn will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Raburn was born October 16, 1947 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis Ford Nelson and Mary Louise Holloway Nelson. She received her education at Messick High School and was married January 31, 1964 to Roger Raburn. Mrs. Raburn was a resident of the Somerville Community for 23 years and was of the Christian faith. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, studying her family’s ancestry and her family states that she could do “anything very well”.
Mrs. Raburn is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roger Raburn of Somerville; her daughter, Channin Dickinson (Trent) of Memphis; three sons, Ty Raburn (Lori) of Memphis, Brian Raburn (Angela) of Memphis, Dustin Raburn of Benton, AR; her sister, Carolyn Louise Treadway (Dale) of Olive Branch, MS; her brother, Ricky Nelson of Memphis; five grandchildren, Taylor Raburn, Rebecca Raburn, Collin Raburn, Olivia Rosenthal, Jaxson Raburn; and her great granddaughter, Juliet Raburn.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Holden, Alex Hunsucker, Parker Simpson, Ken Edwards, Joseph Mitchell, Hector Martinez, Jr. and Mark Rosenthal.
