Gordon Leroy Shubert

June 15, 1965 — November 15, 2013

Gordon Leroy Shubert, resident of the Stanton Community and son of Leroy and Martha Shubert departed this life Friday evening, November 15, 2013 at his residence. He was 48 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Shubert were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, November 19th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Al Davis, pastor of the Landmark Baptist Church in Somerville, officiating. Special music was provided by friends, Kay Robichaux of Somerville and Eddie Martin of Brownsville. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Shubert was born June 15, 1965 in Somerville, the son of Leroy Shubert and Martha Ann “Marty” Duncan Shubert. He received his education in the Fayette and Haywood County Public School Systems and had been a resident of the Dancyville, Somerville and Stanton Communities for much of his life. Gordon was a Christian and attended the Landmark Baptist Church in Somerville as long as health permitted.

He enjoyed fishing and outdoor activities and had a love for all kinds of sports with a special interest in football. He was a much loved son and brother and was blessed to have the support and concern of his many family members and friends during his extended illness.

Mr. Shubert is survived by his parents, Leroy and Martha Shubert of Somerville and his sister, Beverly Martin of Stanton.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Cain Porter, Darrell Martin, Tommy S. Thompson, Danny Logan, Jr., Charles Logan and Tony Bass.
