Grace Marie Hyback, age 88, resident of Somerville and West Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, departed this life Saturday morning, March 10, 2018 at the veterans’ home.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Tucson, Arizona where she lived for many years. Bring’s Funeral Home in Tucson, Arizona will handle the arrangements for a service this summer. An online memorial will be posted by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Grace was born Grace O’Neill in Washington, Pennsylvania to Edmund Patrick O’Neill and Rose King O’Neill on St. Patrick’s Day on March 17, 1929. She was married to the late William Richard Hyback of Batavia, New York. Grace was a veteran of the Korean War. She served in the Air Force making weather maps for pilots. She is included in the Women in the Military Memorial in Washington, D.C. She had been Commander of the Korean War Veterans Post in Tucson and a member of the Society of Military Widows, a member of Tucson Ladies Auxiliary VFW. Grace worked at El Dorado Medical Center in Tucson for many years.
Grace is survived by three children: her son, William Richard Hyback, Jr. of Ventura, CA, her daughter, Kathy Ann Stockton (Stan) of San Antonio, TX and her son, Kim Brian Hyback (Susan) of Somerville, TN. She also leaves three grandchildren, TSgt Ian William Stockton (Ashley) and 1Lt Helen Marie Stockton who are stationed at Osan Air Force Base in Korea, Allan Matthew Stockton who is an RN at University Hospital in San Antonio, TX; her sister, Donna Vail (Walter) of Cornelius, OR, Edmund O’Neill, Jr. (Patricia) of Batavia, NY and David O’Neill (Donna) of Pavillion, NY.
