GRADY "BOBBY" CURTIS CAMP, JR.

April 16, 1932 — January 21, 2009

GRADY CURTIS "BOBBY" CAMP, JR., a resident of the District 15 Community in Fayette County died at 7:58 A.M. Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at his Somerville home on Armour Drive. He was 76 years of age and died following an extended illness of several years.

Funeral services for Mr. Camp were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, January 23rd at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Dr. Kenneth Culver, Pastor of the Warren Community Church at Warren, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Rickey Burns, Pastor of the Williston Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Mt. Olive Cemetery of the District 15 Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Camp was born in Covington, Tennessee on April 16, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents Grady C. Camp, Sr. and Dorothy Erline Atkins Camp. He was educated in the Memphis City Public School System and was married May 28, 1988 to the former June Monfee, who survives.

Mr. Camp was involved in long distance trucking for many years and was a self-employed Independent Trucking Contractor before his retirement four years ago. He and his family also operated a vehicle repair shop and parts store in Oakland in earlier years.

He was a former resident of the Oakland Community before moving to the District 15 Community eighteen years ago.

Mr. Camp was of the Baptist faith. His favorite pastimes in recent years included animals and gardening and he enjoyed hunting, fishing and other outdoor activities in past years.

A people-person, he will be remembered for his devotion to his family and friends.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Camp is survived by two daughters, Janet (Atkins) Weaver (Kim) of Moscow, TN and Patricia Gifford (Bill) of Byhalia, MS; his son, Ronald Camp (Carolyn) of Millington; two sisters, Evelyn Stewart of Arlington and Katie Durling of Collierville; ten grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Norma Jean McCullough.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Wayne Beckett, "Bubba" Kates, Jim Bob Fergie, Greg Oliver, Marty Rogers, John DeVore and Brian DeVore.

Ben Johnson served as honorary casket bearer.
