Hal Eugene “Gene” Claunch, Sr., age 84, resident of the Piperton Community and husband of Bonnie F. Bobbitt Claunch, departed this life Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Claunch were conducted at 1 P.M. Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. David Reeves, pastor of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville, officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Macon Cemetery in the Macon Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Claunch was born June 22, 1933 in the Macon Community of Fayette County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Claunch and Nettie Bell Claunch. He received his education in the Fayette County School System and served his country in the United States Army as a young person. Mr. Claunch was married April 14, 1956 to the former Bonnie F. Bobbitt, who survives. He was self-employed as a Master Plumber and was a member of Macon Church of Christ in Macon, Tennessee. Mr. Claunch enjoyed special times with his family and will be remembered for being a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend.
Mr. Claunch is survived by his wife, Bonnie F. Claunch of Macon, TN; daughter, Debbie Duncan (Ed) of Piperton, TN; son, Bubba Claunch (Harriet) of Oakland, TN, three brothers, Vergie Claunch (Linda) of Oakland, TN, Jimmy Claunch of Oakland, TN, J.C. Claunch (Nettie) of Tucson, AZ; four sisters, Peggy Myers of Norman, OK, Brenda Dees of Oklahoma City, OK, Ruthie Cotter (John) of Coldwater, MS, Emily Doyle of Moscow, TN; four grandchildren, Ashley Duncan of Oakland, TN, Carrie Larson (Steven) of Las Vegas, NV, Crystal Claunch of Oakland, TN, Amanda Hall (Josh) of Rossville, TN; and three great-grandchildren, Ian Larson and Riley Larson of Las Vegas, NV, and Easton Hall of Rossville, TN.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Claunch and two sisters, Joy Claunch and Evon Claunch.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jerry Rhea, Taylor Wolfe, Tyler Wolfe, Shane Russell, Roger Claunch and Tom Fontana.
