Harold Lester Mooneyhan

HAROLD LESTER MOONEYHAN, resident of the Moscow Community died October 25, 2010 at the Methodist Hospital in Germantown where he had been a patient for two days. He was 86 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Mr. Mooneyhan were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 27 th at Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Greg Cook of Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow, officiating. Interment with Military recognition followed in the Longtown Cemetery near Como, Mississippi. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Mooneyhan was born in Crenshaw, Mississippi on April 30, 1924 the son of the late Bondy H. Mooneyhan and the late Ala Curtis Mooneyhan. He received his education in the Mississippi Public School Systems and was a World War II Veteran who served two years and eight months in the South Pacific Theatre as a Staff Sergeant. Mr. Mooneyhan was a devoted member and deacon at Morris Memorial Baptist Church in Moscow and served on twelve different Baptist deacon boards across five states during his lengthy career with Fred’s Discount Stores, Inc. in Memphis. He retired as Vice President from Fred’s Inc. (Baddour Corporation) of Memphis after forty-seven years of service.
He was the proud husband of the late Bettye Fly Mooneyhan for sixty-six years and eight months before her death in 2008. Survivors of Mr. Mooneyhan include his son, B. R. “Ron” Mooneyhan of Moscow, his sister, Betty Henry of Sardis, Mississippi, his brother, D. W. Mooneyhan of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Herman Bringle, Sonny Henry, Ken Long, David Mooneyhan, Bill Nails and Henry Till.
Honorary casketbearers were Richard Allen, Charlie Dacus, Wesley Green, Pete Ledbetter, Red Oliver & Odie Pleasants .
