Harold Malone Redfearn, resident of Cordova, native of Fayette County and United States Korean War Veteran died Saturday morning, January 12, 2013 at his residence. He was 83 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance with Military Honors for Mr. Redfearn were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, January 19th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Ken Burnette of the Parks Chapel United Methodist Church in Fayette County officiating. Graveside Services were conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday, January 19th at the Asbury Cemetery at Ripley, Tennessee beside his beloved wife who preceded him in death in 1987. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Redfearn was born December 16, 1929 in Fayette County. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Earle Redfearn, Sr. and Louise Hollida Redfearn, early residents of the Moscow Community. Mr. Redfearn lived in the Moscow Community as a young person and graduated from the Fayette County High School in Somerville. Harold served our country as a combat rifleman in the 15th Infantry, Third Infantry Division during the Korean War.
Mr. Redfearn worked previously for several years for American Tobacco Company in Louisville, Kentucky. He thereafter worked a number of years for Martin Marietta in Santa Barbara, California. Harold then came back to Louisville, Kentucky to work for several years at Phillip Morris Company before he returned to Memphis to work for Carrier Corporation from which he retired.
A Christian man, Mr. Redfearn was also preceded in death by his wife, Jane Glenn Redfearn; his brother, John Earle Redfearn Jr; and his sister, Wanda Louise Redfearn Parks, who died April 21, 2012.
Mr. Redfearn is survived by a godson, Larry McQuirter of Cordova; his niece, Gayle Joan Redfearn Mudd of Louisville, KY; and his two nephews, John Earle Redfearn III of Atlanta and Hugh Harold (Hank) Parks of Memphis as well as 8 great nieces and nephews, 2 great-great nephews, and a beloved host of dear cousins.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Hugh Harold (Hank) Parks, John Earle Redfearn III, William David Parks, Randal Martin Redfearn, Thomas Surles Redfearn and Bill Rhea.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Asbury Cemetery Association, 1045 Asbury Road, Ripley, TN 38063.
