HARRISON COLLINS, a resident of Collierville, with extended family members in Fayette County and a Truck Operator throughout his life, died at 8:30 P.M. Friday, September 19, 2008 at the Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown where he was taken after becoming suddenly ill earlier in the day while making a truck delivery at Olive Branch, MS. He was 48 years of age and died unexpectedly.
Funeral services for Mr. Collins were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, September 25th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with the Rev. Will Barnes, Pastor of the Bethlehem Baptist Church near Rossville, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Collins was born February 26, 1960 in Shelby County the son of the late Earl Garwood Collins and the late Wilmer Moore Collins. He was educated in the Collierville Public School System and was a lifelong resident of West Tennessee. He was married May 27, 1991 to the former Betty Chambers of the Oakland/Hickory Withe communities.
He was of the Baptist Faith and was employed as a Truck Operator for the Trico Trucking Company in Memphis at the time of his death.
Involved in Trucking and Truck Repairs throughout his life, Mr. Collins was blessed with the ability to repair anything. He loved out of door activities that included farming, coon hunting, horseback riding and frequent trips to the mountains.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Stacey Pennington of Memphis; his son Harrison Troy Collins of Collierville; three sisters and three brothers.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Eddie Anthony, Eric Skolnik, Cody Myrick, Troy Collins, Dillon Collins, Samuel Chambers, Larry Taylor, Chase Burton and Joey Gildy.
