Helen (Martin) Leek

December 1, 1927 — May 21, 2012

Helen Martin Leek, age 84, resident of Moscow, retired manager for the Somerville Dollar General Store and wife of the late Odie B. Leek died at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas.

Services for Mrs. Leek will be at 11 Friday morning at the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville, where she was a member. Interment will be in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. A visitation for Mrs. Leek will be from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville.

Mrs. Leek was born December 1, 1927 in Friendship, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Franklin Martin and Janie Tennessee Cleek Martin. She received her education in the Dancyville Public School System in Haywood County and was a former resident of the Eads Community.

She enjoyed quilting, flowers, ceramics and was very devoted to her family. In 1964, Mrs. Leek was honored with the Fayette County Mother of the Year award. She was also involved with the Women of the Moose and a volunteer at Fayette Cares.

Mrs. Leek is survived by three daughters, Patsy Holden (Robert) of Camden, TN, Bettie Knupp (Max) of Batesville, AR, Nancy Freeman (David) of Camden, TN; two daughters, Robert L. Pittman (Shirley) of Ripley, TN, Kenneth Pittman (Marsha) of Newark, AR; four sisters, Rebecca Simpson of Lexington, TN, Myrtle Johnson of Brownsville, TN, Betty Thompson of Henderson, TN, Janie Palmer of Moscow, TN; four brothers, Roy Martin of Ramer, TN, George Martin of Ramer, TN, Floyd Earl Martin of Lamar, MS, Clifford Martin of Brownsville, TN; 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.

Those honored to served as casketbearers will be Jimmy Pittman, Timmy Holden, Jerry Holden, Alex Wright, Kenneth Wright and Johnathan Brown.

Honorary Casketbearers will be Dustin Brown, Trey Wright and Robert Holden, III.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
