Helen Jane Hinkle Prather, resident of the Somerville Community and wife of the late Edwin Prather departed this life Sunday afternoon, September 8, 2013 at the National Health Care Center in Somerville where she resided for three years. She was 91 years of age.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Prather were conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, September 14th at the First Christian Church in Mound City, Missouri with Rev. Paul Grant officiating. Interment followed in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Mound City. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Prather was born August 28, 1922 in Bigelow, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Otho Hinkle and Nan Heflin Hinkle. She received her education in the Bigelow and Mound City, Missouri Public School Systems and was married June 29, 1940 to Edwin Glenn Prather, who preceded her in death on March 15, 2010. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mound City and was a resident of Missouri before she and her late husband moved to Fayette County in 2008 to be near their late son, Paul Prather, Sr. and his family.
Mrs. Prather’s survivors include her daughter-in-law and caregiver, Nadene Prather of Somerville, eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Eric Prather and Paul Prather, Sr.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Paul Christopher Prather, Paul K. Prather, Jr., Cody Prather, John Prather, Shane Prather, Trevor Prather, Nathanael Prather and Joel Prather.
