Helen (Hampton) Roberson

August 12, 1927 — December 3, 2012

Helen Hampton Roberson, resident of the Somerville Community and lifelong resident of Fayette County died Monday evening, December 3, 2012 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for two weeks. She was 85 years of age and died following an illness of several months.

Services for Mrs. Roberson will be at 10 Friday morning at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Kevin Treadway of Somerville officiating. Interment will follow in the Macon Cemetery at Macon. A visitation for Mrs. Roberson will be from 6 to 8 Thursday evening at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville.

Ms. Roberson was born August 12, 1927 in Somerville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edgar Hampton and Velma Lowrey Hampton. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School in Somerville, Class of 1947.

Ms. Roberson was a homemaker throughout her life and was also associated with her family in the operation of businesses in the Somerville area. She was a Christian and will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother.

Ms. Roberson is survived by her daughter, Trudy Loomis (Larry) of Hernando, MS; her son, Charles Sidney Roberson (Carol) of Hot Springs, AR; her brother, Wayne Hampton of Somerville; four grandchildren, Daniel Loomis, Clayton Earl Roberson, James Wesley Roberson, David Mitchell Roberson; one great grandson, Ryan Loomis; four step grandchildren, six step great grandchildren, and the father of her children, Sidney Earl Roberson of Somerville.

Ms. Roberson was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Inez Hampton and her brother, Bobby Hampton.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers will be Larry Loomis, Daniel Loomis, Hank Sloan, Michael Heppner, Clyde Buffaloe, Jr. and Jackie Kee.
