Helen (Albrittian) Sterling

August 30, 1919 — February 5, 2013

Helen Albrittian Sterling, resident of Cordova, former resident of the Williston Community and wife of the late Harold Hugh Sterling died Tuesday evening, February 5, 2013 at the Grace Healthcare of Cordova where she had been a resident for six years. She was 93 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Sterling were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, February 9th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Joe Jernigan, associate minister of the Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Sterling was born August 30, 1919 in Charles County, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest George Albrittian and Maggie Susanna Cooksey Albrittian. She received her education in the Charles County, Maryland Public School System and was married to Harold Hugh Sterling who died in 1977. Mrs. Sterling was a resident of the Williston Community in Fayette County for a number of years and returned to the Memphis area to be near her family ten years ago.

She was a Baptist and will be remembered as an avid animal lover who enjoyed both dogs and cats. She was a dedicated homemaker throughout her life and in later years was surrounded by a group of friends who enriched her life with their support and love. Mrs. Sterling was a gracious and loving person, quickdraw for a smile and words of encouragement. Her caring heart and giving spirit will be remembered by all who knew her.

Mrs. Sterling is survived by two sons, Harold Hugh Sterling, Jr. of Cordova, Barry Evan Sterling of Memphis; six grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Harold Hugh Sterling, III, Harold Hugh Sterling, IV, Bradford J. Sterling, Gowan Sterling, Greyson Sterling and Ian Sterling.
