Helen "Cissy" (Burch) Kelley

July 7, 1930 — November 20, 2017

Helen “Cissy” Burch Kelley, age 87, resident of Collierville, Tennessee and wife of John Nathaniel Kelley, Sr., departed this life Monday evening, November 20, 2017 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her family.

Graveside Services for Mrs. Kelley were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at LaGrange Cemetery in LaGrange, Tennessee. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Kelley was born July 7, 1930 in Somerville, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Edward Burch, Sr. and Mary Louise Smith Burch. She received her education in the Fayette County School System and was married September 26, 1946 to John Nathaniel Kelley, Sr. Mrs. Kelley was a member of Somerville First Baptist Church and she was a homemaker throughout her life. She was a member of “The Girls” from Colonial Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee and will be remembered for being a devoted Christian who instilled Christian values in the lives of her family. She enjoyed working with flowers, gardening and was a great cook.

Mrs. Kelley is survived by her husband of 71 years, John Nathaniel Kelley, Sr. of Collierville, TN; two daughters, Teresa Bobbitt (Rick) of Collierville, TN, Betsy Hylander (Billy) of LaGrange, TN; her sister, Jo Earnest of Memphis, TN; her brother, Max Burch (Shelby) of Savannah, TN; six grandchildren, Kelley Branham (Tom), Hilary Darnell (fiancé, Christopher Hamm), Amber Bobbitt, Josh Bobbitt (Emily), Wil Hylander (Kristin), Magen Hylander (Kate); thirteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Nathaniel Kelley, Jr.; her brother, Red Burch; and her brother-in-law, James Robert Earnest.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
