Herbert Allyn “Mac” McElravey, age 76, resident of Oakland and husband of Patricia McElravey, departed this life Tuesday afternoon, July 3, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral Services for Mr. McElravey will be conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Jason Moore, pastor of the Oakland First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. A visitation for Mr. McElravey will be from 12 noon until 2 P.M. Friday, July 6, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. McElravey was born May 8, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of Herbert L. McElravey, Jr. and Virginia Lee Williams McElravey. He was a graduated of Tech High School in Memphis and served his country in the United States Army 82nd Airborne from 1960 until 1968. He was married March 15, 1980 to the former Patricia L. Phillips and he was employed as a mechanic at the Kellogg Company before his retirement in 2000.

Mr. McElravey was a dedicated member of Oakland First Baptist Church and was also with the Christian Motorcyclist Association and the Faith Riders. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, witnessing to people and model cars and airplanes.

Mr. McElravey is survived by his wife of 38 years, Patricia McElravey of Oakland, TN; four daughters, Deborah K. Sutherland of Parsons, TN, Teresa Gale of Cordova, TN, Cathy L. Fosheè of Walls, MS, Kristy A. Combs of Oakland, TN; his brother, David McElravey of Millington, TN; three granddaughters, Chelsea Starnes of Southaven, MS, Kinsey Valesquez of White House, TN, Linsey Fosheè Pegram of Walls, MS; three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Chad Pegram, Haston Lambert, Carl Doyle, Rudy Doyle, David Wagner and Jeff Davis.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Oakland First Baptist Church Building Fund , 8695 U.S. Highway 64, Somerville, TN 38068.
