James Herman Joyner, age 86, resident of Collierville, Tennessee, departed this life Sunday morning, September 29, 2024 at his home.
Herman was born February 28, 1938 in Collierville, the son of the late Sam Joyner and Helen Lucille Donaldson Joyner. He was employed with The Carrier Corporation in Collierville for 37½ years before his retirement and was a member of Kirk Christian Church. Herman enjoyed tinkering with lawnmowers, going to estate sales, antique cars and going to the gun range. He will be remembered for being a “jack of all trades”.
Mr. Joyner is survived by two daughters, Renea Joyner Henson of Collierville, TN and Pam Poole (Ricky) of Coldwater, MS; three brothers, John Joyner (Brenda) of Somerville, TN, Harold Joyner of Bartlett, TN and Ronnie Joyner (Brenda) of Bartlett, TN; five grandchildren, Shane Causie (Joanne) of Gulf Breeze, FL, Brent Causie (Karen) of Eads, TN, Hollye Griffith (Jeff) of Olive Branch, MS, Jessica Poole of Coldwater, MS and Corey Poole of Coldwater, MS; and nine great-grandchildren, Jacob, Adam, Ethan, Gracie, Carter, Tyler, Aleksa, Carter and Kylan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mae Howard and Lucy Marie Franks; his brother, Bennie Samuel Joyner; and his two beloved dogs, Milli and Yogi. He was also preceded in death by his son-in-law whom he had a special friendship with, Jesse Henson.
Memorial Services for Mr. Joyner were held at 2 P.M. Thursday, October 3, 2024 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel. The officiating ministers were Bro. Willie Davis and Bro. Stephen Watkins.
