Herron Edwin Douglass, Sr.

Herron Edwin Douglass, Sr., age 73, resident of Somerville and husband of Mary Jo Stensland Douglass, departed this life Friday afternoon, June 8, 2018 at his residence.

Funeral Services for Mr. Douglass were held at 2 P.M. Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Lillie Ann Fletcher of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Hood Cemetery in the Warren Community. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Douglass was born November 24, 1944 in the Somerville area. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School and served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was married June 9, 1965 to Mary Jo Stensland and he was employed as a machine operator for Continental Bakery in Memphis before his retirement. He enjoyed many outdoor activities that included hunting, fishing, farming, gardening, animals and horseback riding.

Mr. Douglass is survived by his wife, Mary Jo Stensland Douglass of New Albany, MS; two daughters, Cindy Crafton (Steve) of Somerville, TN, Sandi Dunn (Pete) of Van Buren, AR; his son, Jake Douglass (Delorse) of New Albany, MS; two sisters, Myrna Minor (J.T.) of Moscow, TN, Joyce Ann Wilburn (Joe) of Williston, TN; ten grandchildren, Chris Douglass, Andrew Douglass, Jacob Douglass, Luke Crafton, Eli Crafton, Chloe Morrow, Lily Morrow, Caroline Morrow, George Dunn, Charlie Dunn; and ten great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Douglass and Ruth Doyle Douglass and his brother, Richard Douglass.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Chris Douglass, Andrew Douglass, Jacob Douglass, Luke Crafton, Eli Crafton and Richie Wilburn.
