Hilda Jean (Garrett) Yates

Hilda Jean Yates, 51, Oakland resident and former employee of Fred's Discount Store in Somerville died Thursday, October 18, 2012 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett.

Services for Mrs. Yates were conducted at 3 P.M. Tuesday, October 23rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Tony Watkins of Moscow officiating. Interment was in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Yates was born December 30, 1960 in Alcorn County, Mississippi. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward Garrett and Irene Pipkin Garrett. She received her education in the Hardeman County Public School System and moved to the Fayette County area in later years.

She was a member of the Oakland Church of Christ and was devoted to her family. Mrs. Yates was a homemaker and also employed at Fred's Discount Store in Somerville. She enjoyed flower gardening and special times with her friends.

Mrs. Yates is survived by two daughters, Hollie Glover of Jacksonville, FL, Krystal Glover Waterson of Crawford, GA; her son, Michael Glover, Jr. of Augusta, GA; two sisters, Kathy Sipes of Toone, Sherry Robinson of Selmer; three grandchildren, Taylor Lucas, Aubrie Waterson, Laynee Waterson; her companion, Donnie Byrd of Oakland; and the father of her children, Michael Glover, Sr. of Crawford, GA.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
