Howard Lee Phillips

Howard Lee Phillips, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and retired oil field consultant for Getty Oil Company departed this life Sunday, June 2, 2013 at the National Healthcare Center in Somerville where he resided for two years. He was 78 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services Honoring the Life of Mr. Phillips were conducted at 10 A.M. Thursday, June 6th at the Graveside with his son-in-law, Webb Williams, officiating. Interment followed in the Bixby City Cemetery in Bixby, Oklahoma. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Phillips was born July 17, 1934 in Drumright, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas E. Phillips and Virgie M. Frazier Phillips and his brother, Tom Phillips. He received his education in the Oklahoma Public School System and was a graduate of Olive High School Class of 1952. He was Church of Christ in faith and was employed as a drilling production supervisor for the Getty Oil Company for 32 years before his retirement 23 years ago.

Mr. Phillips had been a resident of Fayette County for the past two years and enjoyed numerous outdoor activities that included bass fishing and hunting. He enjoyed all types of sports and was an avid reader with history being a favorite subject.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his daughter, Peggy Williams (Webb) of Hickory Withe; his son, Mike Phillips (Tammie) of Duncan, OK; four brothers, Harold Phillips of Bella Vista, AR, Robert Phillips of Frisco, TX, Roy Phillips of Jenks, OK, Jack Phillips of Skiatook, OK; eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
