Howard Neal Roberts, age 92 and husband of the late Gloria Sain Roberts, departed this life Tuesday morning, June 5, 2018 at Pine Meadows Health and Rehabilitation Center in Bolivar, Tennessee.
Funeral Services for Mr. Roberts were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, June 8, 2018 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Mike Holloway of Oakland officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Southwoods Memorial Park Cemetery in Memphis. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. Roberts was born March 25, 1926 in Shelby County, Tennessee, the last of twelve children to Paul Roberts, Sr. and Jennie Ethel Meadows Roberts. He went to school in Tennessee and Kentucky and was a former resident of Olive Branch, Mississippi and Memphis, Tennessee. He was employed as a service technician for Denaux; and Slenker & Kirkpatrick before his retirement. Mr. Roberts was married to Gloria Sain Roberts who died in 2009 and he was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church in Memphis. He was a member of the WBCCI camping group and also served his country in the United States Army as a young person during the World War II period. He received a Purple Heart medal and served during the Battle of the Bulge.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his son, Stephan Roberts (Lynné) of Somerville, Tennessee and three grandchildren, Kaitlyn Karadimas (Peter), Matthew Roberts and Melissa Roberts.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Veterans Administration, 810 Vermont Avenue NW, Washington, D.C. 20420 or to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
