HENRY ANTHONY (TONY) TREMMEL, JR., a resident of the Oakland Community, retired employee of the DuPont Company and husband of Judy Tremmel died Monday evening, November 30, 2009 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett where he was taken after becoming suddenly ill at his residence. He was 69 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Funeral services for Mr. Tremmel were conducted at 1 P.M. Thursday, December 3rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Alan Barganier, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Tremmel was born in Shelby County on September 12, 1940. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Anthony Tremmel, Sr. and Maureen Brewer Tremmel.
He graduated from the Shelby County Public School System and was married January 7, 1961 to the former Judy Offenbacher, who survives.
Mr. Tremmel was a longtime Control Room Operator for the DuPont Company in Memphis where he was employed for thirty years before his retirement eleven years ago.
He and his family were residents of Memphis before moving to Fayette County.
Mr. Tremmel was of the Christian faith and will be remembered as an avid outdoorsman and sports enthusiast.
He held the distinction of being a West Tennessee Champion Duck Caller and his interests included fishing, hunting, yard work and dancing.
A University of Tennessee Sports fan, he also enjoyed NASCAR activities and bird watching.
In addition to his wife of forty-eight years, survivors of Mr. Tremmel include three daughters: Christy Miles (Bobby) of Cordova; Terry Drummond (Shea) of Memphis and Toni Burnett (John) of Germantown; two sons, Frankie Tremmel (Stacy) and John Tremmel (Stephanie), both of Lakeland; a step-brother, Leon Tremmel and twelve grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a step-brother, Robert Spencer.
Those honored to serve as casket bearers were Steve Apking, Frank Brannon, John Burnett, Shea Drummond, Buck Gore and Bobby Miles.
