Ilene May Pugh Adams, age 82, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and wife of the late Thomas Adams, departed this life Saturday afternoon, September 1, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee.
A Graveside Service was held at 11 A.M. Friday, September 7, 2018 at the Slayden Cemetery in Slayden, Mississippi with Bro. Jason Moore, pastor of the Oakland First Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mrs. Adams was born July 21, 1936 in Springfield, Ohio. She was married in July of 1987 to Thomas Adams and she was of the Baptist faith. She was most recently a resident of Oakland, Tennessee and enjoyed needlework, crocheting, crossword puzzles, watching Olympic watersports and special times with her family. She was always loving and supportive of her children and grandchildren and loved them unconditionally no matter what; each one new they were special to her. She was a ray of sunshine always bringing smiles to people around her. She loved purple, butterflies, so with that said she is like a butterfly flying away to heaven; joining her family waiting on her. Shed only tears of joy, knowing she is at Heaven’s Gate waiting on you to join her.
Mrs. Adams is survived by two daughters, Ellen Hill (George) of Oakland, TN, Linda Smith (Patrick) of Memphis, TN; her son, Howard Berryman (Beverly) of Memphis, TN; her brother, Leroy Pugh of North Charleston, SC; nine grandchildren, George Hill, Jennifer Novarese, Joe Irby, Susan Brewer, Mark Berryman, Robert Smith, Diana Smith, Kandy Young, Justin Berryman, Jake Berryman; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Adams; her parents, Eugene and Tina Allen Pugh; and her daughter, Mary Berryman.
