Imogene Doyle Burch
1929—2011
Imogene Doyle Burch, former resident of the Oakland and Arlington Communities and native Fayette Countian died Saturday morning, January 1, 2011 at the
Grace Healthcare of Cordova
where she had been a resident for three years. She was 81 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Burch were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, January 5
th
at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Kenny Bruce of the Leawood East Church in Memphis, officiating. Personal remarks were given by her brother, Carl Doyle of Oakland. Interment followed in the Oakland Town Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Burch was born in Oakland on October 22, 1929 the daughter of Louise McDowell Doyle and Hugh Lendy Doyle, who preceded her in death. She was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and continued her education at the Memphis School of Commerce. Mrs. Burch was a homemaker throughout her life and in earlier years was employed by Salant Manufacturing Company in Somerville and as a dormitory counselor for the John S. Wilder Youth Development Center. Mrs. Burch was of the Baptist faith and her interests included sewing, knitting, caring for her yard and preparing food for her family. She had a special love for her pet dachshund “Little Bit”.
Survivors of Mrs. Burch include her daughter: Melissa Garner (James) of Southaven, MS; her son: Barry Burch (Diane) of Cordova, TN, her brothers: Billy Doyle, Carl Doyle and James “Rudy” Doyle, all of Oakland; eleven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Brad Burch, Gene Burch, Shane Burch, Brien Doyle, Charles Doyle and Shane Hardin.
