Jack Brence Armstrong, age 51, passed away on December 22, 2024, in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born July 23, 1973, and was the second son to the late John Murray Armstrong and Fredda Joan Terry Armstrong.
Reared in the South Hall athletic dormitory on the University of Memphis campus, Brence experienced a rich diversity of people and experiences from an early age. He attended elementary and middle school at Christ Methodist Day School and St. Dominic School for Boys, then high school at Christian Brothers High School. He graduated from the University of Memphis, where he majored in Physical Education while earning an athletic scholarship to play varsity football as a punt snapper. His professional career spanned banking and pharmaceutical sales; his hobbies included fishing, collecting coins and comic books, and mechanical tinkering.
Brence is survived by his son, his brother, and many close friends. The funeral service was at 11:00 AM, with subsequent burial at Somerville City Cemetery.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Sterritt Armstrong, Rob Bertling, Drew Bladon, Al Bloodworth, Dr. Adam English, and Lance McKinnon.
