Jackie Wayne Kee

October 8, 1945 — September 24, 2023

Somerville, Tennessee

Jackie Wayne Kee, the man who brought warmth, laughter, and boundless love into the lives of his family and friends, passed away on September 24, 2023, in Jackson, Tennessee. Born in Fayette County, Tennessee, on October 8, 1945, to Lola and Hosea Kee Sr., Jackie leaves behind an enduring legacy that shines as bright as his infectious smile.

In 1966, Jackie married the love of his life, Hazel Faye Matheny, embarking on a journey filled with both joys and challenges. And through thick and thin, she cared for him until his final days. Together, they raised four remarkable children: Chris Kee, Monica Baker (Robert), Jason Kee (Tanna), and Jessica Kee. Jackie's unwavering devotion to his family was the cornerstone of his existence.

Beyond being a devoted husband and father, Jackie was a proud and beloved grandfather to six grandchildren: Ethan Boyd (Krysta), Heath Free (Hannah), Will Baker (Courtney), Amelia Kee (Bryson), Violet Kee, and McKinley Kee. He had the joy of being a great-grandfather to Owen Boyd, Harper Free, Aiden Baker, Anastasia Lewin, and on the way, Everett Boyd.

Jackie's love and support extended beyond his immediate family, as he cherished his roles as a brother to Perry Kee, Thurman Kee, Bobby Kee, Peggy Smith, Betty Joyner, and Charlene Hurst. He now joins his brothers Ray Kee, Franklin Kee, Hosea Kee Jr., Harrell Kee, and sister, Kathryn Nix, who preceded him in passing.

In 1965, Jackie answered the call to serve his country and joined the United States Army National Guard. With honor and distinction, he dedicated an impressive 33 years of his life to the military, retiring as a Sergeant First Class/Platoon Sergeant. His loyalty to his nation was unwavering, and he wore his uniform with immense pride.

Jackie was renowned for his passion for the New England Patriots, often wearing a hat, shirt, jersey, jacket, or all of them at once. His knowledge of Ford vehicles was equally impressive, and he never missed a chance to share the latest updates.

One of Jackie's most endearing qualities was his remarkable ability to connect with people. He was a friend to all and had an endless supply of stories and jokes that he never hesitated to share.

Above all, Jackie Kee was a loving and supportive father, an adoring grandfather, and a cherished great-grandfather. His legacy of love and laughter will forever be etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known him.

As we bid our final farewells, let us remember Jackie as a man who embraced life with open arms and a heart overflowing with love. May his memory be a wellspring of comfort and inspiration for all who were blessed to have him in their lives.
