JACQUELINE MAE MANSON BURNSIDE, resident of the Oakland Community and wife of the late Neil Franklin Burnside died Friday morning, January 8, 2010 at the Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital where she had been a patient for three days. She was 85 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Burnside were private and interment followed in the West Tennessee Veteran's Cemetery in Germantown. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.
Mrs. Burnside was born in Cleveland, Ohio on September 22, 1924. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry Manson and Chloe Rosa Manson.
She received her High School and College education in Ohio.
Mrs. Burnside was married for over sixty-five years to the love of her life, Neil Franklin Burnside, a Methodist Hospital Systems Executive and decorated United States Army Veteran who died on December 26, 2009. Mr. and Mrs. Burnside had been residents of Fayette County for the past six years and were members of the Somerville First United Methodist Church. Her husband's positions with General Motors, Ford Motor Company and Methodist Hospital Systems permitted them to live in Detroit, Michigan; London, England; Memphis and Venus, Florida before moving to Fayette County.
Mrs. Burnside was an Interior Decorator in earlier years and will be remembered for her love of traveling, crafts, collecting art and socializing with friends and family.
She is survived by her son, Timothy S. Burnside (Mary Sue) of Oakland and one granddaughter, Jennifer Marie Burnside of Oakland.
