James Roy Blair, Sr.

James Roy Blair, Sr., 55, resident of the Whiteville Community and husband of Patricia Ann White Blair died Friday, July 16, 2010 as a result of injuries received in a one vehicle accident that occurred in Marshall County, Mississippi.

A Service of Remembrance for Mr. Blair was conducted at 3 P.M. Sunday, July 18th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. A Private Interment will take place and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Blair was born January 19, 1955 in Sumter County, Florida, the son of the Mavis Andrew Howell and the late James Andrew Blair, Jr. He moved at an early age with his family to West Tennessee and he had been a resident of the Somerville and Whiteville areas most of his life. Mr. Blair was a farmer and will be remembered as a free spirited person who enjoyed deer hunting, nature and woodworking in earlier years.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Blair is survived by his children: Sherry Cosby of Rienzi, MS, Joe White of Somerville, James “Jimmy” Roy Blair of Hickory Valley, TN, mother: Mavis Howell of Byhalia, MS, sisters: Ann McNabb of Somerville, Kay Clark of Byhalia, MS, Betty Sue Adams of Memphis, Faye Pitts of Sparta, TN, brother “Hoss” Howell of Coldwater, MS, grandchildren: Autumn White, Summer White, Zackary White, a great-granddaughter: Lindsey White. Mr. Blair was preceded in death by his brother, Bobby Ray Blair.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
